If you’re sandwich lover like me, you’re going to love the Bread Box in CityWalk at Universal Orlando. The Bread Box brings you back to having lunch with mom and dad at the local neighborhood corner deli. Complete with the pastel colors, glass straw holders and old fashion breadboxes.
When I walked in I was blown away by the look and feel of this place. It honestly brought me back 35 years, when I used to go with my mom and dad to the Deli down the street from our house. I believe it was called “Happy Pappy’s”. On a side note, I just found out that Happy Pappy’s is still there, and still has the BEST cheese steaks around.
We walked up to the counter and had a look at the menu, which had a delicious selection of sandwiches (14 to be exact.). Anything from Tuna, Chicken salad, a BLT and more… You name it they had it! We elected to go with the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and the Turkey Sandwich. Each sandwich came with lettuce and tomato and was served with French fries and pickle slices. We grabbed our drinks and headed to find a table. The dining room was small and quaint but decorated nicely. I especially liked the front porch swings they used as table benches at a couple of tables. However, while it would make for an interesting lunch, the swings are chained to the ground so they do not swing very high.
Shortly after sitting down, our sandwiches arrived and looked delicious! My Buffalo Chicken sandwich was awesome, with just enough heat (spice) to feel it. The Turkey sandwich was stacked high with turkey and was perfect. The seasoned fries were nice and hot, and went well with tour sandwiches. Our server kept our drinks full and stopped by occasionally to check on us. The manager even stopped by to find out how our sandwiches were.
If you are ever in CityWalk at Universal Orlando, I highly suggest you stop by the Bread Box and grab a sandwich. Whether you like cold or hot sandwiches, the Bread Box surely has one for you. I will definitely be back!
