I was talking to a friend the other day, about how expensive it is to take our families out for a little fun. Yes, the theme parks are expensive, but I am sure there are a ton of awesome things to do in Central Florida that are inexpensive. So, I reached out on Facebook and asked… “What is your favorite “Under $20” thing to do in Central Florida? Where exactly are these great deals, these Orlando BARGAINS?” Here are the top 4 answers I received…
Orlando Bargains & Great Deals
- Visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge – (Cost: FREE) – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge offers a variety of different things you can do for little to no charge. This lodge is a haven for African savannah animals. You will find many viewing areas of zebras, giraffes, kudu and African cattle just to name a few. Most of these viewing areas have guides there to answer any questions about the animals you may have. If you choose to visit at night, some of the viewing areas have “Night Vision Goggles”. How COOL is that!! (On a side note: Did you know that the Animal Kingdom Lodge has the largest collection of African Art outside of Africa.) Orlando Bargains? Hard to find a better deal than this and it is worth repeating, … it is FREE!
- Fort Wilderness Campground – (Cost: $8) – Although staying at the campground is far from free, there are many things you can do that are. Kids at least 2 years old (Under 48 inches tall and under 80 pounds) can go to the Tri-Circle Ranch and climb aboard a pony. The kids can enjoy a leisurely horseback ride around the Ranch while being guided by their parents. Also, every evening you can attend Chip & Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. Bring your own marshmallows and sticks, or purchase a s’mores kit from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar. After you enjoy the gooey goodness, sing along to old-time favorites led by a guitar-playing cowboy, as Chip ‘n Dale visit for photos, autographs, smiles and fun. Then, after the sing-a-long you can cozy up for a classic Disney movie under the stars. Bring your camping chairs, blankets or sit on the benches that are provided. Orlando Bargains … Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground? Absolutely!
- Silver Moon Drive-in Theatre: (Cost $5 for adults and $1 for kids.) The Silver Moon has two screens usually showing first-run movies. Each screen has a double feature seven nights a week. You’ll enjoy listening to the movie through your FM car radio, but they also have in-car speakers available on some rows. Go early and pick out your favorite spot! Load up at the snack bar with your favorite treats. Make yourselves comfortable in the privacy of your own car. Every night is a great night for the drive-in! Okay, so this is located in Lakeland but according to Google Maps, it is a mere 47 minute drive from the Magic Kingdom (click here) so … again, Orlando Bargains? Hands down YES!
- Florida State Parks: (Cost $5-$10) Our beautiful state parks offer a variety of recreational activities for you to enjoy. Fish in one the many lakes, known to for their Large Mouth Bass populations, swim in one of many crystal clear springs or hike through one of the many lush Florida wildlife habitats. You can always find something to do in one of our Florida State Parks.
