The excitement of the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo returns to Osceola County for its third year, April 6-9, bringing a level of rodeo competition unlike any other to the dirt-covered floor of the Silver Spurs Arena.
Reigning 2016 RNCFR Bareback Champion and current World Champion Tim O’Connell will return this year, as well as two-time RNCFR All-Around Champion Josh Peek for the thrilling elimination-format rodeo. Contestants will compete head-to-head for $1 million in cash and prizes.
Three-time RNCFR bull riding qualifier Luke Gee will also return with a specific goal. “I really enjoyed the rodeo in Kissimmee. The stock was great, and I am really glad to be going back. My goal is to ride four bulls in Kissimmee and see what happens. Most guys don’t get to ride four bulls,” says Gee.
The event has proven to attract new visitors to the area, many of which include loyal rodeo fans following the strong men and women who compete in events throughout the country. County officials are convinced that by showcasing the dynamic community to these groups, the reach of Osceola’s tourism brand will continue to grow.
“We have created an amazing one-of-a-kind rodeo event that appeals to competitors and rodeo fans alike. Showdown Sunday is a hotwire to the heart as the best of the best strive to come out on top. It’s an electrifying experience and it is really a great showcase for our rodeo traditions and our tourism brand,” said Osceola Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington.
Last year, Osceola County added more fanfare with the new “Tailgate Experience”, which will return this year with added entertainment and excitement for all, including an expanded kids zone with a rock climbing wall, bungee jump, trampolines, zip lines, corn hole and more. Local food vendors have been added to the lineup this year as well.
It all kicks off on April 3 with a unique cattle drive through the streets of historic downtown Kissimmee. Cowboys, county officials and livestock will recreate this historical event that took place back when Kissimmee was the “Cow Capital of Florida”. Today, Florida is still “First in Cattle,” and with more than 100,000 head of cattle, the state is home to both the largest and 10th largest cattle operations in the United States.
Tickets range in price from $10 to $25 for single event tickets depending on the performance. Kids 12 and under are free. Parking for the RNCFR is free this year.
